Santa Fe shooting: J.J. Watt to pay for funerals, Houston mayor calls for metal detectors in schools

In the aftermath of the Santa Fe High School shooting, two local leaders have responded. 

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt said he will pay for the victims’ funerals, according to multiple reports. Separately, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner has called for installing metal detectors at all Texas schools using state funding, according to a May 18 statement.
