GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) – A father was killed while putting gas in his daughter’s car on the shoulder of the George Bush Turnpike near Firewheel Town Center on Thanksgiving Day.
The Department of Public Safety said a vehicle struck Samuel Guzman of Sasche while his 18-year-old daughter was sitting in the car.
Authorities said it appeared she might have run out of gas and her father came to help her.
The driver of the car that hit Guzman is Paul Thurber, 50, or Richardson.
DPS said DWI charges are expected to be filed against Thurber.
